What is a betting exchange?
On an exchange you bet against other players, not against the bookmaker.
Back vs Lay
A Back bet is a standard bet — you think Team A will win, so you Back them. A Lay bet is the opposite — you think Team A will lose, so you act as the bookmaker for another bettor who wants to back them.
Exchange odds come directly from other players — the more active the market, the better the odds. A small commission is deducted from each winning bet, but the odds are generally more favourable than those of a traditional bookmaker.
Example (decimal odds 1.80)
BACK Team A with ৳500 — if Team A wins, ৳400 profit (before commission); if they do not win, you lose ৳500.
